Frequently Asked Questions

If you are a small business new to the Web these FAQ's are aimed at explaining a few key concepts.
Why would I want a website?

A website provides your potential (or current) customers with easily accessible and current information about your business. How much information you make available will depend entirely on your needs but can range from basic contact details to a complete list of all your products or services. This information can be readily updated to ensure your customers always have up to date facts at their fingertips. Additional benefits of a professional website include:

  • Enhanced prestige.
  • It can reach a wide audience.
  • You can include location maps for customers to easily find you.
  • You can add interactivity such as on line forms for customers to request information.
  • Add a shopping cart for on line ordering of your goods!

How will potential customers find my site?
In addition to traditional means (i.e. quoting your URL (web address) on your correspondence, business cards etc.) your site will be submited to the top search engines, so that any customer using these tools will be pointed to your site. This service is included in the initial cost of the site.

What is the process, how does it work?

Together, we will work through a stepwise process .

  1. The consultation stage, the focus will be on 'what you hope to achieve from the website' , we will decide together on how best to meet this objective.
  2. The next consideration is how the site will look and how it will be structured (the number of pages etc.) This is likely to be a paper exercise aimed at ensuring that you are happy that it projects the right image for your business.
  3. You will require an appropriate domain name (address) and a host. I will help you to arrange these at minimal cost.
  4. Once your needs have been established , I will create the site and upload it to a test area on the Internet for your approval. Once you are happy, I will then upload the completed site to your domain.
  5. Any initial 'teething' problems will, of course, be solved promptly. However, one of the benefits of the web is the ease of ensuring all information is up to date. I will be readily available for any subsequent changes to your site at a nominal rate, this is likely to be an ongoing process.
